What You Will Do:
- Supervises the accounting staff and all related functions performed within the department.
- Responsible for the hiring, training and succession of all staff within the department.
- Responsible for preparation of financial statements and reports identifying any areas of financial concern regarding the Credit Union.
- Responsible for reporting to Ministry of Financial Institutions and Deposit Insurance Corporation of Ontario.
- Responsible for cash management of the Credit Union.
- Monitors the matching of assets and liabilities
- Manages the Accounts Payable of the Credit Union.
- Develops, recommends changes to policies and procedures in the areas of accounting and administration.
- Develops, recommends and audits internal financial controls and procedures to minimize risk exposure.
- Works with internal and external auditors.
- Assist the Vice-President, Finance in the preparation of the annual budget and forecasts.
- Other duties as assigned by the Vice-President of Finance.

What You Will Bring:

- University degree or diploma with an accounting / finance focus.
- Professional accounting designation (CA, CMA, CGA) preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of varied accounting experience, preferably in a financial institution
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with all levels of staff with the Credit Union, as well as customers and suppliers.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks within tight timelines under pressure.
- Ability to analyze and evaluate problems and provide resolutions.
- Innovative and creative problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
- Ability to speak and write Polish an asset.
